Information about LED Globe shaped Bulbs
Traditional globe lamps had tungsten filiaments and so had an average life of around 1000 hours and woiudl use anything from 25-150W of energy. Led globes will typically use 4-6W but there are morte powerful versiuons available and last 15,000 hours or longer.
Traditional bulbs dim perfectly and the colour shifts as the voltage is reduced. Led Globes are best dimmed with an LED dimmer but may work on an original dimmer if you are lucky. Usually when you dim an Led lamp the colour stays the same but the bulb just gives out less light. However there are a small number of dim-to-warm lamps and these replicate the action of traditional lamps and go more yellowy (Warmer) as they are dimmed.
The range of Led lamps is far greater than traditional lamps which were confind to clear or opal. We now havew a large range of tints and colour temperatures which range from an extremely warm colour right through to daylight.
